Asus is set to shake up the handheld gaming market again. The upcoming ROG Ally 2 and a special Xbox-branded variant, codenamed Project Kennan, have surfaced in FCC filings, hinting at an official launch soon.
The leak was first spotted by 91mobiles and confirmed by other tech sources.
According to the FCC documents, the ROG Ally 2 will come in three storage variants: 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB.
The black model, believed to be the Xbox handheld, features a dedicated Xbox button on the upper left.
The regular white ROG Ally 2 sticks to Asus branding. Both devices are expected to run on powerful AMD chips, with the Xbox version using the Ryzen Z2 Extreme.
“The black variant’s Xbox button and design changes point to a deeper collaboration between Microsoft and Asus,” said a Windows Central report.
Design-wise, both models have improved grips for better comfort and now include two USB-C ports on the top. The devices are slightly bulkier than the original ROG Ally, likely for better ergonomics and cooling.
The ROG Ally 2 and its Xbox sibling are expected to be unveiled at Computex 2025 on May 20, right after Microsoft’s Build conference. Pricing and exact launch dates are still under wraps, but the leaks suggest a global rollout is imminent.
With these upgrades, Asus and Microsoft aim to make handheld PC gaming more accessible and powerful for everyone.
