Backbone has announced the Backbone One Pro, its latest gaming controller designed for mobile and cloud gaming.
The new controller stands out with a built-in battery that offers up to 40 hours of wireless play and Bluetooth connectivity, making it compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, computers, VR headsets, and smart TVs.
Major Upgrades and Features
The Backbone One Pro features a new ergonomic handle design, larger bumpers and triggers, and full-size concave thumbsticks for better comfort and control during long gaming sessions.
It also introduces two remappable back buttons and allows users to customize every button through the Backbone app. The controller weighs 199 grams, slightly heavier than its predecessor due to the internal battery.
Gamers can use the controller in two modes:
- Handheld Mode: Connects directly to a phone via USB-C for zero-latency gaming-no charging needed in this mode.
- Wireless Mode: Pairs via Bluetooth with various devices, powered by the built-in battery.
Universal Gaming Hub and Retro Support
The updated Backbone app acts as a universal hub, letting users access games from platforms like Apple Arcade, Xbox Remote Play, Steam Link, and cloud services such as GeForce NOW.
The app now also includes a built-in emulator for retro gaming and a smart search feature to quickly find games across platforms.
Pricing and Availability
The Backbone One Pro is priced at $169.99 and is available now on Backbone’s official website and at selected retailers.
It is expected to be more expensive than the original Backbone One, reflecting its advanced features and broader compatibility.
