Google’s NotebookLM Mobile App Launches May 20 for Android and iOS

Google’s AI-powered research tool, NotebookLM, arrives on phones and tablets May 20, bringing smart summaries, document chat, and AI podcasts to Android and iOS.

Google is set to launch the NotebookLM mobile app for both Android and iOS devices on May 20, 2025, coinciding with the start of Google I/O 2025.

This marks the first time the AI-powered research assistant will be available outside of desktop browsers, making it easier for users to access its features on the go.

NotebookLM is designed to help students, professionals, and researchers make sense of complex information. Users can upload PDFs, website links, YouTube videos, and plain text, then ask the AI to summarize, answer questions, or even turn content into an AI-generated podcast called an Audio Overview.

The mobile app keeps all the core features of the web version, including smart summaries, semantic search, and the ability to query documents directly.

The app interface features tabs for Recent, Shared, Title, and Downloaded notebooks, and a prominent “Create new” button for starting fresh projects. Users can upload new resources directly from their devices and access previously saved materials.

The app also integrates with the system’s share sheet, allowing quick addition of sources like PDFs from other apps.

A standout feature is offline support: users can download AI-generated audio summaries and listen to them in the background, even when switching apps or locking their screens.

The app will be available for pre-order on the App Store and pre-registration on Google Play, ensuring automatic download on launch day.

NotebookLM’s arrival on mobile devices is expected to broaden its user base and boost productivity for anyone needing a flexible, AI-powered assistant. With support for tablets and iPads, multitasking and document management will be even smoother.
