Kia’s upcoming electric SUV, the EV5, has been spotted with several upgrades ahead of its global launch. The upcoming model, expected to enter mass production in the third quarter of 2025, is already making waves in markets like China and Australia.
According to Electrek, the EV5’s global version features updated alloy wheels, a refined interior with a new center console, and Kia’s latest CCNC infotainment system with dual 12.3-inch curved screens.
Kia EV5 Upgrades and Features
The Kia EV5 is 4,615 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,715 mm tall-almost the same size as the Tesla Model Y (4,750 mm long, 1,978 mm wide, 1,624 mm tall). But the EV5 stands out for its price: in China, it starts at just over $20,000 (149,800 yuan), while the new Model Y starts at 263,500 yuan ($36,500).
The global EV5 will drop the lower-cost LFP battery for a higher-density NCM battery, likely increasing range and price outside China. Buyers can choose between FWD and AWD, with battery options of 60.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh, offering up to 500 km (310 miles) range.
The base Chinese model offers a 329-mile (530 km) CLTC range, while the long-range version boasts up to 447 miles (720 km) on a single charge.
Will Kia Launch its EV5 Global Model Soon?

The EV5 has already made a strong debut in Australia, ranking as the fourth top-selling EV through April 2025, just behind Tesla Model Y, Model 3, and MG MG4. Its sharp pricing and spacious design have made it a favorite among buyers looking for value and features.
Kia plans to launch the EV5 in new markets, including South Korea, Europe, and Canada, but it’s not expected in the US. The company confirmed that the EV5 will be “exclusively for the Canadian market” in North America.
