Royal Enfield is entering the electric motorcycle market with two highly anticipated models: the Flying Flea C6 and the Himalayan.
The Flying Flea C6, the brand’s first-ever electric motorcycle, is expected to launch in India by March 2026. Meanwhile, the Himalayan Electric, still in prototype stage, showcases Royal Enfield’s commitment to eco-friendly adventure biking, with a launch expected by 2027.
Flying Flea C6: Urban Charm Meets Modern Tech
The Flying Flea C6 draws inspiration from the classic WWII-era Flying Flea, combining vintage looks with modern features.
It sports a lightweight forged aluminium frame, a slim body, and retro-styled round LED lights.
The bike is packed with tech, including a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, Google Maps, music control, and over-the-air software updates. Safety gets a boost with traction control and cornering ABS, a first for Royal Enfield.
The C6 is designed for city riding, offering a manageable kerb weight (around 100–110 kg) and an expected range of about 100 km per charge.
Riders can choose from five riding modes and enjoy features like cruise control, regen braking, and wireless phone charging. The price is expected to be around ₹2-3 lakh (ex-showroom).
Himalayan Electric: Adventure Goes Green
The Himalayan Electric prototype, showcased at EICMA 2023, keeps the rugged DNA of the original Himalayan.
It features a mid-mounted electric motor, long-travel suspension, and a battery pack cleverly hidden behind the seat. Early reports suggest a range of over 200 km per charge, making it suitable for long-distance touring.
The bike also introduces new tech like AI-based seat height adjustment, a ride-by-wire throttle, and multiple riding modes. While the launch is still a few years away (likely by 2027), the Himalayan Electric is expected to be priced between ₹3–4 lakh (ex-showroom).
With these launches, Royal Enfield is set to shake up India’s electric motorcycle market. Both bikes blend classic Royal Enfield charm with the latest EV technology, offering Indian riders exciting new options in the coming years.
