Xiaomi has officially announced the arrival of its first self-developed smartphone chipset, the XRING 01.
The news was confirmed by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, who revealed that the new processor will launch in late May 2025.
The XRING 01 will be Xiaomi’s first major in-house smartphone chip since the Surge S1 in 2017.
XRING 01 Chipset Built on 4nm Technology
The XRING 01 is built using TSMC’s advanced 4nm process, a technology known for delivering high performance while keeping power consumption low.
The chip features an eight-core setup: one high-performance core running at 3.2 GHz, three performance cores at 2.5–2.6 GHz, and four efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz.
The configuration is designed to balance speed and battery life, making it suitable for both gaming and everyday use.
XRING 01 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
Leaks suggest that the XRING 01’s performance will be similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the flagship chip from 2022.
While it may not match the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite or MediaTek Dimensity 9400 series, this is still a strong showing for Xiaomi’s first major attempt at a modern in-house processor.
The chip is also expected to include a powerful IMG CXT 48-1536 GPU for smooth graphics and gaming experiences.
Connectivity
The XRING 01 is said to pair with a MediaTek module, ensuring faster 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity. This partnership will help Xiaomi deliver reliable and efficient internet speeds, a must-have for today’s smartphone users.
Arrives in Xiaomi 15S Pro
The first device to feature the XRING 01 is expected to be the Xiaomi 15S Pro, which could launch as a special edition in China.
This phone will likely combine the new chip with premium hardware and design, showcasing Xiaomi’s latest innovations.
