Dutch investment firm 819 Capital Partners has announced a strategic investment in BEDROCK 3D, a specialized manufacturer of premium 3D printing filaments based in Emmen, Netherlands.
The capital infusion provides long-term financial backing to expand production capacity and fuel advanced material research. It also integrates the materials specialist into 819 Capital’s expanding additive manufacturing portfolio under NovioScan Holding.
From BASF Lineage to Independent Scale
BEDROCK 3D traces its roots back to pioneering filament developer Innofil3D, which later operated as a core manufacturing hub for BASF Forward AM.
Following a management buyout and a brand relaunch, the company established itself as an independent producer focused on reliable Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF / FDM) technical materials. This new partnership ensures the company maintains strong supply chain continuity for industrial and desktop 3D printing users worldwide.
Key Highlights of the Investment
The investment agreement focuses on several core expansion and integration initiatives across the additive manufacturing sector:
- Synergistic Portfolio Integration: BEDROCK 3D joins medical technology firm Insolution and other hardware innovators under the NovioScan ecosystem to combine material science with specialized software.
- Advanced Material R&D: Funding will accelerate the engineering of high-performance engineering filaments designed for automotive, aerospace, and rapid prototyping workflows.
- Production Scaling: The Emmen facility will upgrade automated winding, quality control, and extrusion lines to handle growing global demand.
- Hands-On Growth Support: Managing roughly $100 million in assets, 819 Capital Partners brings operational expertise alongside its seed and private equity resources.
Strategic Industry Context
As the polymer 3D printing market consolidates, dedicated material formulators face increasing pressure to deliver tighter diameter tolerances and consistent thermal properties across batches.
By securing dedicated private equity backing, BEDROCK 3D positions itself to compete aggressively against broad-line chemical giants while offering industrial clients agile custom compounding services.
