Bengaluru-based EV startup Simple Energy has officially announced that its upcoming family-oriented electric scooter will carry the nameplate Simple Wave.
The company confirmed that the electric scooter will officially launch in the Indian market on September 2, 2026. This new model will position itself directly below the high-performance Simple One flagship to capture mass-market commuter demand.
Family-Centric Ergonomics and Everyday Utility
Unlike the razor-sharp aggressive profile of the Simple One, the Simple Wave adopts a more approachable, boxier silhouette tailored for multi-rider daily practicality.
The design highlights a substantially longer, flat single-piece bench seat paired with an expansive flat floorboard. It also incorporates an apron-mounted LED headlamp, robust pillion grab rails, and generous under-seat cargo storage suitable for grocery runs and school commutes.
Expected Key Specifications and Hardware
While final variant pricing will be revealed at launch, initial technical filings indicate a well-balanced hardware configuration built for durability across urban routes:
- Battery & Certified Range: Expected to feature a 3.7 kWh battery pack delivering an estimated 180 km IDC range on a full charge.
- Suspension Architecture: Built on a rigid tubular frame with a front telescopic fork and rear twin shock absorbers to navigate rough city roads.
- Braking Setup: Equipped with a front disc brake alongside a rear drum brake supported by a Combined Braking System (CBS).
- Digital Cockpit: Features a connected TFT touchscreen cluster with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth pairing, and dedicated ride analytics.
Strategic Market Positioning
India’s electric two-wheeler sector has witnessed a sharp transition toward utility-driven family commuters, as seen with recent entries like the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube.
By pricing the Simple Wave competitively in the sub-₹1.20 lakh bracket, Simple Energy aims to expand its retail footprint significantly beyond tier-1 hubs into high-volume tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
